The Irony of Charity Work

You will probably not doubt me when I say that the unheated outdoor pools are getting somewhat cold now.  Motivation is hard to find when it hurts to even enter the water, let alone to stay in it for any period of time.  Dr Julie Bradshaw advised me to wear a swim hat whenever possible, as though I'm not allowed to wear a wet suit or any insulating clothing, a swim hat will offer some minimal protection from the cold.

'Should I grow my hair to provide extra insulation?' I asked.

'If you can,' she replied, with a wry smile.

And so I find that whilst some people chose to shave their heads for charity, I'm somewhat ironically having to grow mine!
